Spring Makeup 2013

Spring Makeup 2013

Spring trends are about pops of color; so make sure to focus color on parts of your face that you wish to accentuate and downplay all other makeup. If you want a bright eye, downplay your lip, blush and vice versa.

When you think of spring, you tend to think of pale colors, but don’t be fooled by that conception as this season hot lip colors are full of bright hues of red, and I’m not talking about your grandmas red lipstick, I’m talking red matte. Yes matte. My favorite is by NYX “Perfect Red”. Make sure to outline the outermost part of your lips with a red pencil to give them a bigger,  fuller look while also preventing any “bleeding”. If you would rather go with a nude lip, combine it with a bright eye or bright cheek. Still can’t let go of your Barbie pink lipstick? That’s ok too. Pair it with a bare eye to really bring the attention to your beautiful pout.

When it comes to the eye think warm, sun reflecting colors. Coppers are going to be your go to color for the season, not gold but a sexy, smoldering copper. Create  beautiful smokey eyes using your “metal mania” pallet from Coastal Scents,  line it up with a smudgy black liner, then seal the deal with a few coats of your favorite mascara. If you are too pale to pull off copper, go with a platinum or chrome shade.

Blush aka rouge. If I have to leave my house in a hurry you can always count on me having on mascara and blush! Going as far back to ancient Egypt times, blush has been used to emphasize cheek bones and to give a youthful glow. Look for a sheer blush to contour and add natural looking color to your cheek bones. Again my “never leave home without it pallet” is Coastal Scents “6 contour blush pallet” where I can highlight, contour and add a little color to my cheek.

Now lets talk about nails. A few of 2013 nail trends are bright pastels being inspired by foods, such as sherbet, cotton candy, and marshmallows. Extravagant uses for glitter and 3D nail art will be staying this season and since this years color is emerald, expect to use plenty of green polish on your  clutch. I’m not sure if you have tried OPIs “liquid sand” line, but I am HOOKED! Has glitter flickers with a matte finish, its ahhhhhhhmazing!
